The Osage Art Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of its major new exhibition
THE SUN TEACHES US THAT HISTORY IS NOT EVERYTHING
on Saturday 24 March 2018 at 6.00pm
Initiated by the Osage Art Foundation and curated by Brazilian curator Raphael Fonseca, “The sun teaches us that history is not everything" is a contemporary art exhibition which aims to establish closer relations between South East America and South East Asia through the fulcrum of Hong Kong. This project will bring together 26 artists – 14 from Central and South America and Mexico, 8 from South East Asia and 4 from Hong Kong and Macau.
This exhibition is a part of the "Regional Perspectives" platform which was started by the Osage Art Foundation in 2011 in recognition of the fact that more needed to be done to develop the cultural conversations happening in Asia.
The exhibition aims to develop the discourse around contemporary art in Asia and beyond. It will examine dialogues and parallels between the histories of colonialism, migration, cultural identity and post-colonialism in the South Eastern Americas and South East Asia with Hong Kong / Macau as the pivot point around which these discourses may revolve.
The exhibition will include a full program of artist talks and school tours. Details will be released later on the Osage Art Foundation website. The exhibition will continue to 6 May 2018.
The exhibition is hosted by Osage Hong Kong, 4/F, 20 Hing Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
